There was a bit of an awkward moment, where he declared he was going to cut down the tree in our back garden, applied the chain saw, and waited for the tree to fall... but he did get into the whole 'pretend' thing eventually. And it is about as realistic as its possible to be - all the right noises, all the right buttons. Great buy - I am favourite auntie! **To be honest i bought this for myself for a halloween party but the instant my 2 year Old son saw it he had to have it and play with it !!! He has played with it for the last month at least once a day.. his dad has the real thing and i have to say i am very impressed how similar they are (apart from the chain). Not only does the rubber chain moves around but it had very realistic sound effects and to start it you use the pull cord !! it also has a very much needed volume control! My boy is a little rough with this toy but so far it has survived, but should it break the toy comes with a tool and spare chain...
